If I had a cabin.....

If we had a cabin we would want it to look like this. Rustic, raw, and down right homey. The kind of place where you don't have to worry about taking your shoes off upon entering, there are no bedtimes, the fish are always biting, and memories are made. Someplace remote.

No television, just lots of books.

A kitchen with all the amenities, but one that is decorated with lots of vintage finds and is very rustic.

A massive stone fireplace would be nice with a loud crackling fire.

We would end our days with smores and campfire stories.

someday.....

Oh Melaine, just saw this post. Guess you aren't going to get much done tonight. lol. I hope you get your dream of a cabin soon. We live approximately an hour from our lake place and yet it feels like we are in a far away place. We have the campfires every Saturday night. The neighbors come over and we make smores and sit around and chat. Mornings are filled with fishing, then coffee on the deck followed by skiing/tubing. Wonderful memories. I wish everyone had that special place to go to.

My inlaws have a cabin in the mountains. They've done a lot of work to it, but for some reason we really haven't enjoyed it to its fullest yet.

I now regret that we didn't use it more when BIL was alive. (He died Wed. night.) But the last time we were there, he was with us and we had a great time.

Love your cabin photos. It's always fun to wish. I sometimes dream of a place straight out of a Terry Redlin Print. Throw a couple of quilts in there and you have perfection.... Have a great Sunday.

Hey Melaine, I LOVE your blog!!! I look foward to it every morning while I eat breakfast after I have gotten my kids to school. My husband and I just bought a vacation cabin that was built in 1901. We have completely gutted it. I wish I could bring you here to Indy to help me design it...lol. When I found your blog, you had done a post on your living room and that's what got me hooked. I loved your style and thought "that's how I want my cabin to look" Anyway, I thought I would leave a comment today since your post was on cabins and my cabin was the reason I started reading your blog...to get ideas.

Oh, and your obsession with Paul Walker cracks me up. I thought I was the only one in love with him :)

We, too, would love a cabin like that. Some of the same elements I admire in those pictures are also in the photos of your home. No wonder I like your home!
