Welcome!
Come on in out of the cold and stay for a while!
My good friend Kim was kind enough to photograph my home for the holidays.
Here we have our living room tree.
It has stayed the same over the years, very rustic, all the ornaments are "lake" related.....
fish, canoes, etc.
The kids love the vintage train that circles around the bottom.
I wrote part of the story, "Twas the night before Christmas" on our kitchen wall.

It was one of my favorites when I was a kid, and still is!
I love it when I have an excuse to go shopping!

This little heart wreath hangs in the hallway along with some other holiday decor.

I just added little vintage silver ornaments.

They hang from sconces in my kitchen on either side of the sink.
Don't they have such sweet faces?

Part of the gifts are wrapped....

I filled the vase with faux snow....

This is the little landing going downstairs. I recently striped the wall to match the hallways in our home.

I love this old frame that I put a chalkboard in,
it's so fun to change it out seasonally!
I picked up that huge chunky shelf made out of old mouldings at a garage sale this past summer, and just added fresh evergreens.
It smells so good!
He picked them up in France when he was young and they were antique then!
There are beer glasses and wine glasses, love them!

Some pine cones by the fire.

Yummy treats, I think I ate almost all of those myself....

Some are mercury glass ones I picked up at Pottery Barn.
This one is from the dollar store!

Little glitter houses from T.J. Maxx, and a frame I made.

Another Walmart special.

Savannah used to collect these little nutcrackers, aren't they sweet?
I found some faux pink poinsettias and
shoved them into her already full tree!
I also found some darling vintage
white bunny lights with pink ears, so cute!
{these things don't have to cost a lot!}
White feather tree was from Walmart years back.

I used my ironstone collection, some wall words, and paper whites for a simple display.
bath with clippings from around the yard.
{and my neighbors yard,
Shhh! Don't tell!}
I just love this barbed wire tree topper, fits in perfectly!
His tree sits at the foot of his bed so he can look at it as he goes to sleep at night.

Some topiaries on the mantle in the living room.
Pretty simple.
Some old suitcases, a tree wrapped in burlap,
and a little snowman.

If you want to head over here and rate my space, I'd appreciate it!
Have a great day!
I have to get ready for the big day tomorrow.............
can anyone guess what it is?

Oh these pictures are incredible! Kim certainly knows how to make even the smallest of things come to life in a grand way. There was so much to look at during your open house that I couldn't take it all in, now I get to see all the little details. What a treat. Is the magazine coming to shoot your house tomorrow????

I love all of your ideas!
Very simple/understated but elegant and classy.
I am all about Christmas trees in the kids rooms too.
I am going to have to buy one of those long shelves you have in your daughters room!
Alot of your little knick-knacks I recognize from different stores.
Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!
Everything is simply gorgeous! I love the little pick tree in your girl's room and the chalkboard wall in the kitchen. You've done good. :)
Absolutely stunning! Wow. Insanely jealous at your creativity. Any chance you could share a full view of what the sconces look like on each side of your sink? I have a dull sink area that needs something to dress it up and two old sconces boxed up somewhere... wondering if it looks the way I imagine it.
PLEASE don't make me pick a fvorite shot ... the chalkbord story is making me a little giddy
I love when you show us your beautiful home. So inspiring. I remember it from RMS days. Love the wallwords, the chalkboards and your kids room. I just love everything about it. You have wonderful ideas. Now what is this about a photo shoot? Really? I won't want to miss it.
Hugs,
Donna
I LOVE your blog and have been following for a while. Your house is gorgeous and one of my very favorites. I have a questions -- how in the world do you keep your extra or out of season decor organized??? I'm trying to figure that out for my own stuff!! Thanks :)

Simply beautiful! Now I have to start all over with my decorations. I'm such a copy cat.
Oh Melanie....how I loved strolling through your beautiful holiday home. So elegant and simple and unique. Love it all! Favorite? Maybe the "Baby It's Cold Outside" since I'm in Eastern WA and that's one of my very favorite songs. Thanks for your inspiration. Cori
Very pretty! Is the ribbon on the lamp in your daughter's room from Bath and Body Works..way back when? I LOVE that ribbon...they had the sweetest wrapping paper to go along with it. I still have some..in my wee shop...just over the pass.

I am dying here.. I would love to change up my wrapping this year, and love the glittered monogram.
Did you purchase or make the monogram letters? I am trying to cut out letters on card stock and spray paint with some glitter but it's not coming out as thick. Suggestions, Oh Craft Goddess? :)
Just adhesive and dump glitter on top?!
Wow, so gorgeous! LOVE LOVE that chalkboad in frame, so cool! I need to get busy with my Christams decor. *sigh*
