I am so drawn to these muted tones.
I haven't always been.
Believe it or not I used to have my home filled with color!
But after living with it for a while I decided it was just not for me.
After many years and lots of trial and error, I have come to the conclusion that these earthy muted tones are what I love and can happily live with everyday.

Some might say it looks stark.
To me it is comfortable and soothing.

Some might even say it's boring.
But with enough texture thrown in the mix, it's actually quite the opposite.

i am new to your blog (found it through "style for your life"), but i am now a religious reader---LOVE your style! you may have done this already, but i would love to have you post (or direct me to a post) with some of your favorites paint colors. i currently have my house filled with color and am pretty tired of it... i love the pictures you post with white, cream, and taupe... thanks in advance!
Love all those colors. I agree the absence of color is soothing, and nondistracting. I always love what you post! Would love to have you to follow mine!
I couldn't agree more...I love simple whites and creams. I used to LOVE color, but now more of a creamy white kind of girl! All the photos are wonderful.
I'm with you. I used to use color everywhere in my home and now I just want calm, simple beautiful colors.
I just cringe when I see purples, reds, and shocking colors in a home.... I have to have the calm.... The shades are lovely you have featured.... perfection....
Those pictures are beautiful! I love the muted colors too. It seems that I still like to add touches of color like red and black. I love the contrasts. I posted about our Cottage Guest House today. It's still a work in progress but I would love for you to check it out.
Have a great day!

No boring at all my dear...The colors and textures do create a sense of calm and bring in the nature that surrounds you. A fine choice!!
I feel the same way! I used to have a purple kitchen. Yes, purple and now, everything is just a soothing cream color. It is so calming...and I love texture too!
Always love the pictures you find!
Stark...nope, Boring...no way! Beautiful...YES!
I never get tired of seeing pictures of homes done in muted tones.
Kat :)
Oh, how I agree with you. I love the feeling of these colors.
It really is calming. It's so beautiful and the pictures make me want it for my own!
I could eat these colors for lunch!
Relaxing and calming....just lovely!
Love love love it! But okay, do you have children and if so is it hard to keep all of these light colors clean?
I hear you girl..it is a silent scream isnt' it? I am now going more neutral after years of color. I feel more calm and more relaxed in these rooms..so bring them on. I need calm.

My house is all beige and I am slowly changing it out to a little more white. Love the softness of this too. Hugs, Marty
Calm and perfectly inviting! Thanks for sharing!
I agree! I can never make up my mind which I love more, lots of happy color or cool, serene whites, creams and grays. Usually the neutrals win out - but my house does not reflect that! Two boys, a dog and two cats would not mix well with the color palette I adore.
Good taste! :-)
these photos are beautiful! I love muted tones. Or even crisp white with one bold piece. You have such great style!
I'm with you on this. I am in the process of toning down my home :o)
Melanie, I am on the same page. The older I get, the more I need calm around me. If you stop by my blog and see the mosaic that I have posted, these are the colors that make my heart swoon. Very serene. Kind of like a walk in the woods in the winter time.
Have a great day,
Becky
