~going grey~

I have to admit.
I have never really been a big fan of grey.
It always seemed cold to me.
Especially living in Seattle we get so much rain and clouds, do I really want to see more of it? This girl has totally changed my mind!
Have you seen her latest post on her girls room?
To die for!
Serious talent there!
I am now so obsessed I went out and bought my first can of grey paint this morning!
{Martha Stewart Pearl Grey, Maria's suggestion!}
I have no idea what I am going to paint, but I'm sure I'll think of something!
I have totally changed my mind about grey paint.
Love, love, love it!
Do you have any links to any great grey rooms?
If so, please share!

xoxo

I really love grey and I could so move into that bedroom. Even though its decorated in white and grey it just looks so warm and cosy!

I'm with you - my opinion of grey has changed. I love those mirrors going up the stairs!

Oh Melaine I love grey too. We also have a lot of grey skies and cold winters where I live in Australia - yep it's not all sunny golden beaches:) I would love to hear what you think once you have used the colour in your home as I am still a little hesitant. I guess it is only paint and I could just paint over it. Looking forward to seeing what you do :) Wishing you a lovely weekend - thanks for so much inspiration this week. I am so happy to have found your blog! - Tina xx

You are so right about Maria from Dreamy Whites! I am sure if she recommends a gray it will be fabulous. I am sort of timid with color. I branched out and used benjamin moore edgecomb gray in a few rooms in my home. It is a warm light putty gray, very neutral.
I just wanted to let you know that I really LOVE your blog it is one of my favorites. All the best, Lori

Is this why I love grey?? From my North Face vest to yours... i'm waving to you over Lake Washington. Can you see me?? For some reason, I just pictured you living on a beautiful plantation in Georgia! Probably because you have such gorgeous photos and ideas... and it just seemed as southern as a lovely Georgia peach. :) Happy to hear that we are neighbors (although we're temporarily trading our fleece in for boots. We're living in Texas for a few months on business). I love following your blog!

Can't wait to see your "grey" when you get it done! Those pictures are so dreamy you almost have ME (a non-grey gal) convinced.

I know what you mean about being reluctant to use grey in your climate up north but there are some greys with a warmer undertone that you might like. Good luck, hope you like it once it is done, but you are so good at getting things done,it will be a quick change for you if you don't like it. You are the ever ready bunny ,that is for sure,Kathysue

hey missy! Great seeing you today. I just painted my living room. It was supposed to be gray, but actually turned out alittle green. My bathroom is GRAY. A historical collection color that is AMAZING! Makes me want to paint the town GRAY! :)

About a year ago, I insisted to a friend that I was not a grey paint kind of girl. Fast forward to today...I recently painted my den and dining room Benjamin Moore's "Harbor Grey." What is amazing about the color is that it is a warm grey in the dining room and a blue grey in the den (alas...proof of what lighting can do!). Credit for my change in attitude goes to all of the wonderful design bloggers I have grown addicted to this past year. I had NO idea that grey could be so incredibly comforting (since I had always believed it to be a cold, austere color). Happy painting to you!

Hi Melanie. I love grey and white rooms with a little linen and pink thrown in! Here's a link to a picture of my oversized grey headboard (you mentioned it a few months ago). http://bellefrancaiseinteriors.blogspot.com
I'm working on a new room and ordered an Aidan Gray chandelier. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It is a lot more grey than the picture shows, and the gold tassels work well with the creamy whites in that room. http://www.aidangrayhome.com/fireside-chandelier-pi-254.html
Let us know what you decide to paint! I'm sure it will be beautiful.

I also, am in love with grey, but I have enough grey in my house to prompt my 16yo son to tell me "our house looks like those places where crazy people go" (gulp). Why can't everyone just love what I love:-/

Melaine,
You are way to kind!! Your comment you left on my blog, your funny, I wish we lived by eachother, I think we would have a lot of fun together. THANK YOU for putting another link to me in your blog. I love all those pictures you posted. I haven't seen the bottom picture with the mirrors on the wall. I am loving that. Have you seen Lori's (White flower design) post about Hannah's pennies for heaven. I will leave you a link, my favorite is the room with the Christmas tree in it. http://frugalfarmhousedesign.blogspot.com/2010/01/hannahs-pennies-for-heaven.html
Thank you again! You are so kind Melaine.

I did not use to like grey either until about a year ago. I painted one of our guest rooms a pale grey by Benjamin Moore paints to be the background color for pops of red, navy and white in a nautical themed room. I just love it. One of my favorite rooms. I will be sharing it someday soon. The rooms you shared are beautiful.

My daughter and sil painted every room grey in their new home, even the baby's room. It looks great. I remember about 10 years ago, a friend brought a house that had been painted grey in every room. We both just simple said, paint before you move in... how trends can change one's mind.

Now this is the type of going grey that I love, I am not so keen on the other type.
It is gorgeous, I have a thing about Farrow & Ball grey paint at present...

That's why I love you ~ when you said going grey, I knew it was either walls or hair {and I have both.}. I fell upon grey last year when finishing my bathroom. I thought I wanted an 'all white' room but the way the light hit the walls and totally washed out the moulding, I went for a light shade of grey ..... it makes the white moulding more obvious in a gentle sorta way {and I think it has an underlying parisienne feel to it.} I'm currently ripping out lathe and plaster and redoing my living room and loved my bathroom so much that I will probably do the main living the same color. I'm not good about taking photos but I'll see if I can find some worthy of sending. Thanks again for always inspiring me. Now go enjoy the SUNSHINE, there is NO GREY TODAY! ;)

My bedroom is painted grey, it's similar to the bedroom you pictured. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color and the feel of the room. I had just finished painting the main part of the house a neutral cornstarch color when I did my bedroom and ever since then I've dreamed of repainting the house. I recently did my office a blue grey and I'm really liking that as well.
