~gorgeous rooms~

I am trying to draw some inspiration for my daughters room.
She recently told me she doesn't want pink anymore...
There are little bits and pieces from each of these rooms that I would love to use. Ultimately it will be a collaborative project, as she does have quite the opinion!
I am loving grey for walls, might have to talk her into that one!
I know for sure I want to do
decorative mouldings on the walls.
Her walls are so tall that it would help to break it up.
Love this mirror!
Wonder if I could make one equally as nice?
Of course we will keep her chandelier, I just don't know if we will keep the one she has or get a new one. I also love the idea of creating fabric
panels on her 4 poster bed, so cozy!
I think a bench at the end of her bed would be nice too.
I love this bed.
A upholstered bed would be great, but her and I both really like the big bed she already has, so I'll probably just paint that.
{it's currently pink}
I love all the white bedding here.
She has "requested" white bedding, which was just fine with me! I won't have to change a whole lot there!
Another photo of decorative moulding detail.
Who knows what we will come up with, but we make a great team when it comes to decorating even though she is only 11!
I told her for her 13Th birthday we would re-do her room.
However, she will be going away for a week to camp this summer and if I can pull it off, I'd like to surprise her with it when she comes home.
I guess we'll have to wait and see!
I've had these pictures saved for quite some time and don't remember where they all came from. If you know please feel free to leave a credit in the comment section!

Here's a thought...what if you paint her walls either a blue/gray color or a green/gray color. That way you can still get the gray feeling that you love! And if you pair that with the white bedding that she has requested.. you may even be able to sneak some pink accents in there too!

what colors does she want other than white bedding? Can't wait to hear about the collaboration. Already 13, time sure goes quickly. Too bad no more pink. It is good that she has an opinion and you are willing to listen. I have seen so many Moms that try to change the childs opinion after they asked for it. You are such a good MOM. Kathysue

Gorgeous inspiration photos! Can't wait to see it. I love the light gray walls, and wish I could talk my daughters into going that route. They'd love lime green and other bright colors!

I remember when my daughter, now 15, said she no longer liked her pink room. It was almost as bad as when she was 5 and told me she could no longer wear dalmation bows in her hair. It is important that they have input when it comes to designing their room. Sometimes I do forget that. Looking forward to the pictures of her new room. Thanks again for all the wonderful inspiration.

I am also making over my 14 yr old daughter's bedroom Melaine. I wish she had more of an opinion though, it has been quite difficult guessing what she will like ;) I can't wait to see what your daughter's room turns out like, I am sure whatever you do, it will be stunning! Have a lovely day - Tina x

Hey Melanie! Another gorgeous post! I love checking your blog every day! I too LOVE gray! I fell in love with it about two years ago and my kitchen walls as well as part of my dining room is painted gray. My bedroom is a dark charcoal color and my guest bedroom is a bluish gray color! Anyway, I ADORE your work and just blogged about it and included links to your blog, etsy shop and your rate my space page. Have a wonderful evening!

Tracery Interiors did a wonderful blog post recently on a beautiful girl's bedroom - definitely a step up from a little girl's room in the level of sophistication, but not too sophisticated that you can't tell a child lives there.

Cote de Texas also recently did a post on the update of her daughter's room, with gorgeous results!

The bed you love is from Nancy Corzine's furniture collection - it is one of my favorites.

Kimberly {Mimi}, thank you for crediting Robin for the lovely photo of our 'Taj Ma Tent' - although I must admit, I had to look hard at it to discern whether it was one she took or one I took!

Melaine, I can't wait to see the room you finally design for your daughter!

The pink room is Laurne Ross's daughter's room. I have drooled over it for some time now. I re-did both my girls bedrooms when they were in high school and it really meant something to them at that age. However, they both took everything when they moved out...

That would be a great surprise for her if you could get it done in time.
