I love the look - it is wonderful. I do think that this is a look that will be dated to 'this moment in time' (just as its predecessor, the glass pendant light, seems to have seen its day), but as long as you keep the cost reasonable, why not? After all, nothing stays in style forever. I think this look still has years of stylishness in it.

Melaine I have 6 pendants that look very simular to the white one, except they are in stainless, are you interested? I had so much stainless in my kitchen that I wanted to go with some glass ones. So they are sitting in my closet if you want let me know

Melaine,

I know I may be "certifiable" but I'm also a certified lighting specialist. Used to do custom lighting design. Loved the design aspect, just not the politics of well,,,we'll leave it at that!

That said, I've always loved the look of potracks in various configurations, but they can be a bit obstructive and oppressive. Not to mention often a dusting and clutter nightmare....

Pendant lighting either incandescent or low voltage fixtures offer a lot of choices AND in conjunction with dimmers really gives you a lot of options!

Two companies for incandescent fixtures that you may want to check out are:
I think you'd really enjoy a company called:
Hudson Valley-
which does lovely pendants with that traditional and vintage look Really nice quality!

And,
Hubbardton Forge, which is higher end, but lets you chose finishes, glass shapes, and colors.

And finally, although I know you go more traditional, it is not uncommon to incorporate Venetian Glass, available in a myriad of colors, textures and styles in either incandescent or low voltage (halogen/xenon) pendants. The advantage to these types of pendants is that you can select bulbs that come in varying degrees of illumination.......so you avoid Striation... (unwanted circles/definition of light) are more energy efficient, come in various color tones,,,,,okay, I'll stop, but you might want to check out Tech Lighting ,,,just for fun!

I'm sure you'll pick out something lovely. I love talking lighting, so you can email me if you have any questions. I'd be happy to advise further if you'd like. Sorry, you mention lighting and I kind of "go there!" Truly, let me know if I can help or answer any questions!!

Hi,

Check out the Potterybarn website. We recently bought the glass pendant which hangs over our farmers sink.
Check out the other pendants.

I hope this helps. Again love your blog.

I vote for the "old school building" pendant lights. Our old realtor started School House Electric and he has the most gorgeous stuff---looks so authentic!
Good luck with your search.

i love the first one
but i'm a fan on the pendant style that look like they have a milk glass thing
( don't i sound like a pro)
PB has a large glass one that is so fun & would look great in multiple

sheesh...maybe i should go copy & paste someone who talks lightfixtures like a true design pro!

I'm thinking of replacing my halophane pendants with a chandelier! Pendants do look fantastic, they just aren't quite working in my space. The symmetry really needs to be right..Rachaelx

I'm doing the exact same thing right now....looking for two pendants and have looked at all of the manufacturers and shops named, all wonderful. Also...Marston & Langinger have some beautiful french pendants in real pretty colors. I think we're going with these. Best of luck...can't wait to see the final choice.
