~fabrics & a giveaway~

So, I went to the fabric store. Way overwhelming.

I liked everything.

Stepping foot in that place made it all the more confusing as to which style I like.

I like them all.

I think that's my problem.

I think that's why I'm always changing things up.

I guess that's not a bad thing.

Right now I am loving different patterns in fabrics.

Did you know that a yard of fabric can cost $105?
{and up}

I walked out empty handed.

But they sure were beautiful to look at.

So, back to reality.
Who's up for another giveaway?
Who doesn't love free stuff?

{I have many prints from her and I love them all!}
has a new item in her store!
These are gallery wrapped canvas'
and they are gorgeous!
Here is what riveting art says about them.
"A Gallery Wrap is printed on fine art canvas & mounted to a sturdy stretcher frame. It comes to you completely ready to hang on the wall. Please understand this is a completely different process from mounting on a wood block. Wood has natural acids that will deteriorate the paper photo over time. You must be very careful with this method; otherwise, your fine art will be ruined in a few years time. When investing in art, it is best to go with a time proven method. Be sure your investment will stand the test of time. "
If you would like to win one of these beauties please leave me a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about November.
C'mon, get creative, I don't want a bunch of "Thanksgivings"
I know you all love turkey and mashed potatoes as much as I do!
I will pick a random winner on Tuesday the 8th!
Good luck!
xoxo

November is the best, it is in between October and December, which are also great months! We celebrate my mom's birthday in nov (on the 17th) and on her birthday, we start listening to Christmas music! It's a small family tradition (the radios here in Salt Lake start playing Christmas music in October! It's crazy!) That's just one of many favorites of November!

I love November not only because it means the weather showing us its dramatic color side, but because it means hot chocolate for me!! It's the perfect time to bust out the ol' mugs, mallows and all you care to drink hot cocoa. Love it!

Oh, November! It's the month of joyous celebration and pumpkins and harvest—but most of all, I love warm moments despite chilly outdoors. Standing inside a warm house and gazing out on a chilly landscape with falling leaves and an icy cold pond outside my window. Or sitting with my hubby, huddled up in the bleachers enjoying a chilly game night.

I love the way leaves sound when you shuffle through them. Rustle, Rustle, Rustle, Crunch, Rustle, Rustle. But my number 1 thing I like in November has to be Black Friday shopping, because I'm one of those crazies who enjoys some elbows out, brass knuckles, and baseball bats type shopping experiences.

I love November because it's the heart of Fall. It's when my husband decides to use our wood stove, it's when making pumpking EVERYTHING is OK, and when we host our yearly Western Pary...we're having one this Sunday. People are bringing their own chilli and rocking their boots, western shirts, belt buckles and listening to some good ol' country! Love it!

November to me is full of memories. High School Football game style frito pies, yep I make `em and serve them in the frito bag itself, just like we used to get them at the games. Yummy~ Me and my sister always share new recipes for the cooler weather that`s finally starting here in Texas. That`s my November.

November is the month that is crisp with the beginning of winter in the air and the leaves have almost all fallen from their trees and it's the start of the most "family" time of the year.

I love all that fabric also. I have plastic tubs full of fabric.

What I love about November is getting ready for the snow. I know it's coming so I get my furs out ugg boots and plan on all the soups I will make some day when I am home watching it snow. I get Sissy's coat out also.

I love snow.

I love November because it is peaceful... things seem calmer and more focused on gratitude - at least in my small corner of the world... I love Thanksgiving - for the gathering - not just the food - I get so disappointed with the early Christmas hoopla - I try to make November special for my little family.

I do enjoy the colors, I also enjoy hot chocolate, leaves and pumpkins. The sound of the leaves crunching under my feet and jumping in the great big piles...

But there is something to be said about the smell of fall....
fireplaces being lit, apples in the orchard, the fresh crisp air and the nights as it begins to frost...there is a rustic but youthful/ energizer smell about fall. Oh how I love it!!

Valley

PS my MIL and I call ourselves the fabric fondlers...I love touching it and seeing all of the visual displays set up.

Let me just start by saying I love my husband!! I do! I really, really do! But in our family the month of November is man time! He takes the whole month off from work with only 1 thing on his mind...The woods..Its hunting season around here so thats where he is every day & that means LOTS of me time!!Shopping when I want..Napping when I want..All my project stuff scattered around..Thats what I love about November!!!

I used to love November because of the fact that it means there's only one more month until December..CHRISTMAS!! However, in the last two years my heart has been changed. I work for a homeless shelter/in house recovery program. For me, I love November because it's the first of two big times that we get to see love displayed for others through the volunteering and giving of one's time on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. I thought I'd dread having to be at work at 5:00am on those two HUGE holidays to set up to deliver and serve 2500 meals in one day, but it's become a favorite time of this season. Knowing that the meal you are serving to an individual, their child, or their family may be the only complete meal they receive all day or possibly all week not only gives you goosebumps but will warm your heart against the crisp outside air of the fall weather. My favorite thing about November is being able to give my time to share with others and provide for their needs out of the abundance I have been given.

Another fabulous giveaway? You are too generous!! My favorite thing about November is just feeling fall in the air. It's the best time of year here in the Midwest.

Have a great weekend!!

Fabric stores for me can been a seriously dangerous place to be!

My favorite thing about November is taking the time to light candles all over the house, snuggle into a nice cozy couch with my little ones and read books together. November seems to be the time when we find the time to just "be" together and I love it!

Jody said...

Making our Thankful Tree...it helps to have it up on the wall where the kids can see it everyday & write down what they are thankful for!! Then, we read them aloud on Thanksgiving. Some are very sweet; some are funny; but it's the best moment of the month for me!

Lolo said...

Fabric stores are overwhelming...I get totally lost and confused as to what I really want - I cant make up my mind!
Oh November....one of my favorite months.
Colorful fallen leaves, Starbuck's Gingerbread Lattes, fuzzy scarves, tall boots get to come out, more family home time with the fireplace cracklin....and the anticipation of the holidays creepin up.

November! Halloween is over, and Christmas with all its hustle and bustle is still a few weeks away. I have never had to make the Thanksgiving feast as we still go to our parents' houses so the whole month is low-key compared to December.Where we live (Richmond, VA) the weather is chilly with the occaisional mild day - perfect Fall!

I love the surprises that November brings. The last 3 days have been glorious sunshine. Yesterday it felt likeJuly. I love listeneng to my kids and dogs running on the dry crunching leaves. I love that my kids are finally settled into their first semester of middle school and doing well. I love the colors on the ground in my back yard right now. When I do rake the leaves, I love the sense of clean that is left behind. I love that a friend invited me to pick apples in her yard yesterday as my trees were fruitless this year. Such a simple gift. I already made apple cake last night and we each gluttingly ate two slices. I feel like this is the last stretch of color in my garden before winter. My dahlias are still blooming and I can still clip them to bring inside. I also love that I have started my paperwhites and amarylis bulbs for winter flowers and gifts. We are not yet crazy with the holiday season either.

The first Friday in November is "Mom's Day Out" at our church. The "older women" (me) serve the "younger women" by caring for their babies and preschool children from 9:30am - 2pm. We feed them lunch, play games and love on their kiddos. They all come back so grateful for a chance to meet a friend for luch or sneak out for some Christmas shopping or time with hubby. Although I'm exhausted by the end of the day, their refreshed faces and expressions of gratefulness make it all worth while.....Happy November and I can't wait for Thanksgiving.....great family time!

One of my favorite days in November is Nov. 10, which is the day before Veterans Day. I'm a high school teacher and on this day, I have my kids bring in photos of their family members who have served in our military. We spend the whole period presenting photos and talking about why we should honor our veterans amd ways they can do it. Recognizing our nation's veterans is my way of thanking them on that day.

November has been a difficult month in my family for the last 30 years. My parents were married on th 8th in 1958. 3 weeks after their 25th wedding anniversary my father lost his battle with cancer. My parents were best friends and in watching how my mother nursed my father in his final weeks I learned about true love. Since then I've tried to make friends with November. It used to be that I wished we could skip it entire and jump straight into December after Halloween. I was 11 when he died. I am 38 now. I now focus on the good things that I can in this month. Had my parents not been married, I wouldn't be here an irregardless of the trials and tribulations of life...it truly is beautiful. My best friends birthday is on the 12th so I try to make it extra special as well. My favourite uncle's birthday is on the 1st. I take these times to remember that although my father is gone, I was so blessed to know him for the time I did. He left a lasting impression in my life and despite his physical absence all these years I feel him with me in the special times. So although I can't say November is my favourite month...I am trying to make friends with it and so far we're doing ok. I am Canadian so our Thanksgiving is in October. November serves as a reminder of all the good in my life and that I am stronger than I sometimes know.

As an aside I've been quietly following your blog for a year or so and have never commented simply because I didn't feel I had anything worth while to say. Your contest question made me stop and think so I felt now was the time to thank you for the beauty you create and share. Many times when things have been difficult in my life in the last year, I've come to your blog to escape for a little while.

Thank you for the serenity.

I love November because last November (the 6th and the 19th) my beautiful Granddaughters were born. So now every November for the rest of my life I will celebrate the lives of these two amazing girls, Mady and Braelyn <3

I love November because it is or should begin the fall weather here in Texas. It is a time to hang out with friends by the fire pit outside. I can also snuggle up with my kids and we aren't all sweating.

It's just the sense of a new year on the horizon and the magic of the holiday season. It is the quiet of November before the storm of the holidays.
