~a circle creek giveaway~

My friends John and Brenda have generously offered to give away 6 bars of their amazing hand poured soaps.
Now, let me start by saying that I am a body wash kinda girl.
Not too much into soaps.
But, John and Brenda gave me a few of their soaps to try and no joke, I am hooked!
They don't get all slimy in the shower
{hate that!}
and they last forever!
Each one smells delicious and they are all very mild.
{I have very sensitive skin and had no problems with their soaps}
John and Brenda are a fun loving husband and wife team who love to junk together, and make home made creations. Their booths at flea markets are nothing short of fabulous and they always have a huge smile on their faces every time I see them!
You can read more about them on their blog, here.
So, here is the soaps you will win in this giveaway:
Fresh Lemon Verbena
Sweet Mango Papaya
Rosemary Mint
Peppermint Tea Tree
Citrus Lime
and
Lemon Grass
I will pick a winner on Monday the 23rd, just leave a comment here telling me what your favorite childhood summer memory is.

with my folks passing away this year - this is our first summer without them and it's bringing lots of wonderful memories of picnics by the lake...laying on a quilt looking up at the clouds passing by with my mom! She made the best sandwiches & they ALWAYS tasted better on a picnic!

what a fun giveaway - I have just the spot for these delightful soaps - I can smell them now!

As a kid, it had to be going out to our summer house in the Hamptons. Hanging out at the beach, playing card games, and backgammon. As a family, just spending this time together, was the greatest fun. My parents didn't have a TV or phone in the house. This way, we all really enjoyed each other's company, without any distractions from the "outside world". These are my favorite memories :)

I loved slip-n-sliding down the big hill in my grandparents' yard. Each year, we always had special summer plans. But it was the Sunday afternoon's at my grandparents' house that I will always remember. There's nothing more Southern than sopping-wet kids, covered in grass, and a brown, dead strip in the yard to ring in the summer!

We would sometimes go to California for the summer ( as that is where my mother 's family is located). We would go on hikes and also go to the beach and into San francisco. We would go to the hills behind my grandfather's house and have picnics and go to a river alongside my aunts house and canoe. My sister's birthday is July 4th so it was always a big party in our family.

Oh I'd love to try their soaps! *Crossing fingers to win!* As a fav childhood memory of summer, I'd have to say it'd be the sprinklers! All the kids in the neighborhood would come over to our huge yard and we'd run through them 1,000 times...and of course cause a huge mud pit, which brought on a new level of fun! :)
Thanks!!

Hi Melanie.....My fondest childhood memories are ones spent at my grandmother's house. She always had a cold bottle of coke in the frig and roses galore. as I got older and was married, she would always bring me bouquets of the most beautiful roses...hence, my love of roses to this day.

Growing up on the CT shoreline in a little beachside town called "Black Point." I met my best friend there of now 30 years. We would spend endless days playing mermaids on the beach and treating ourselves to "spa" treatments of seaweed wraps from the kelp we would find on the beach! We couldn't wait to get ice cream from the ice cream man! I can't wait to have a child to share this care free way of life with him or her!

One of my favorite things to do in the summer was taking a walk to the ice cream shop with my Dad for a root-beer float. He's been gone 4 years this July and every year on the anniversary of his death I go out for a root-beer float. I sure miss him.

We spent our summers at my dads bosses house. His wife was amazing and to this day remains my hero and inspiration. I remember summers sitting on her porch drinking sun tea, drying off from swimming all day while the noise drifted outside from the adults inside playing cards.

My favorite childhood memory...hmmm...I lived on a farm, out in the middle of nowhere, and I loved having my cousin out and we would sleep outside under the night sky, watching for shooting stars and telling stories. In the summer this was the best! Like camping, but without the smell of smoke in your hair in the morning =). And my cousin was my favorite person in the whole world. Fun times. We were so silly together.

What a fantastic giveaway. I adore sweet smelling soaps. Favorite childhood memory... so many growing up on the farm. Probably haying season hanging out in the hay loft salting bales of hay as they came off the conveyor. Mom would make a huge lunch with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade bread to feed the hungry farm hands. It was like a holiday. Now I'm hungry.

My favorite childhood summer memory is at the Jersey shore with mom, dad and brothers - we stayed at my dads friends place - it was warm and sandy with a big open field near the docks - I can smell the bay and suntan lotion, feel the warm breeze and see us flying kites in that field! Ahhhhhhh that was a fun time!

We lived in a neighborhood with about 10 little kids all my age! Our across the street neighbors (who had two girls my age) got a swimming pool that we would always go swimming in. My momma would make jello "jigglers" (remember the Bill Cosby commercials!?) and I'd run across the street with them in my swim suit and bare feet as fast as I could because the blacktop was so hot in the middle of July! Once I dropped the plate (which shattered) and the jello melted almost instantly!

growing up a year-round swimmer, the best part of summer was the "pool baths". we would have practice in the morning, go have lunch with the grandparents, then back to the pool in the evenings to play while parents hung out poolside. by the time the sun went down we were exhausted and a "pool bath" was good enough. chlorine kills everything right?!?!

My favorite summer memory? Camping at the lake with my dad, who had disabling arthritis, and was in a wheelchair. We had a transformed school bus and camped summer after summer. He passed away when I was pregnant with my one and only child (17 years ago) and I cherish that time I had with him. And soap? We always had to buy Ivory soap at the lake... because it FLOATS!! And you took your bath in the lake back then!! So I would LOVE to try this soap ....

During the summer I would stay with my grandmother, and it was nothing short of wonderful. Between learning how to cook good Southern style food, sneaking off to the pond to swim at night, and taking fishing trips to the lake, you were never bored. But even when we weren't busy doing all that stuff, we could be content to just sit on 'memaws' porch, listening to the wind chimes and breathing in the fragrant air from her flower gardens.

The first one to pop into my mind was when we lived in Mobile, AL and my little brother and I spent what felt like the entire summer climbing and lounging in an old magnolia tree in our backyard. We figured out a way to take our snacks and sno-cones and just spent the days of 110degree weather eating sno-cones in the extreme shade of those big waxy magnolia leaves.

I grew up an equal distance from the ocean and a lake on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. An idyllic Huck Finn childhood with bodies of water a mile in either direction. My mom would often take us to both the ocean and the lake for swimming in one day. When we returned home we were required to rinse our sandy feet off with the garden hose outside before entering the house. the garden hose sat coiled on the sunny side of the house where a single hose length of water was quietly warming in the sun. It was just enough for the lucky kid who remembered to yell "First with the hose!" so wash their feet in lovely warm water before the other two.......who had forgotten to claim their rights to warm water, had to dance through the cold water drawn up through the dark underground to wash their tiny toes of beach sand. In all we all probably remembered with equal regularity to lay claim to the hose first but I guarantee there was not a single ride home from either beach or lake that wasn't marked by SOMEONE yelling "First with the hose!".

One of my fondest summer memories was visiting my Grandma and Aunt who owned an old farm house next to a river. My cousin and I would spend hours making mud pies and "baking" them in an old antique oven on the patio. Then we would run around the paths in the gardens and pick fruit from the orchards. We would also build forts out of lawn chairs and old sheets and watch the clouds. It was so much fun. I haven't thought about it in along time. Thanks for reminding me!

I grew up in an apartment in New York City where it's really H.O.T. in Summertime. My favorite memory is when our neighborhood firemen opened up the fire hydrants with arching spray caps so all of us kids could don our bathing suits and cool off splashing and ducking in and out of the water. It's seems weird to think of it now, but it was really fun then! Thanks for the chance to remember! Maureen (mb99999@yahoo.com)

From the ages of 8-13 I lived right across the street from the beach in sunny Los Angeles. Everyday from bright and early in the morning to sunset I would be on the beach. The 4th of July was always the best because we would go down to the beach at about 7am to reserve a volleyball court and stay there until sunset. Then we would watch the firework shows from every city along the coast, it was truly amazing to see fireworks all along the coastline. Looking back I never really appreciated how lucky I was but now that's what makes the memories so much sweeter!

Oh the scents of the soaps sound so heavenly! Just thinking about the sweet smells of summer take me back to the summer after I graduated from college. At the advice of a friend I went to Nantucket Island and Martha's Vineyard MA. I fell in love with the scenery, the ambiance and the charm. I also got stuck in one of the first hurricanes in decades to make it up as far north as the coast of Massachusetts and one of the worst Nor'easterners. I was "stuck" on Martha's Vineyard for 3 days without electricity in a church in Edgartown that doubled as a storm shelter. I met the most amazing and inspiring people and look back on it not as a scary time but as one of the most memorable summers of my life.

An old summer memory is when we used to go to the mountains and camp. We had tents, and I loved to wake up to the smell of bacon sizzling on the camp stove. I'd get up and mix the pancake batter, for my mom, and after breakfast, wash the dirty dishes in the river. no soap, just the sand on the bottom. Honest it worked, and no pollution. Trout liked pancakes as much as we did.

I grew up in New Zealand and I was always at the lakes and always outside. Now that I am in the U.S, and my sisters over there I can honestly say that my favorite childhood memory involves them. We would always go swimming at Lake Tarawera; it was just across the street from us. For the first couple feet it was beautiful. You could see the sand and the rocks. Then once you ventured out a little more it went pitch black from all of the seaweed. There were these buoys that were probably half a mile out. I never ventured out because I was so afraid of the sea weed mostly because I couldn't see what was beneath me. Anyway, one day my sister and I finally decided we would go out and touch it but only if we went together and we were to close our eyes over the black part the whole time we were swimming. We absolutely made it together but we had never swam as fast as we did swimming back. :)

I have a lot of happy summer memories, but mostly I remember playing outside all the time with the neighbor kids. We came up with all kinds of games and activities and hated when we had to go in when our parents called us. This is of course, way before cable tv, computers and video games back in the old days when we had to entertain ourselves.

Hmmm...I'd have to say one of my all-time favorite childhood memory is scrounging around my dad's workshop, looking for a hammer and screwdriver. My brother, sister and I would then hit mom up for a few jars and proceed to poke holes in the lids. Then, it was waiting for that first little flicker at dusk, hoping we'd be able to catch just a few to keep as pets. After catching those sweet, little fireflies, we'd make them their "home" with blades of grass, a little bit of water, and some sand...thinking, of course, they'd be ours forever.
Keeping my fingers crossed ;o)

Lots of amazing summer memories but I have especially precious memories of my Grandma's garden - especially her pansy garden. Maybe this summer I will plant a whole bed of pansies in honor of her.

My favorite summer memories was traveling in a Winnebago across the country... visiting family, exploring new places and finding creative ways to pass the time in the camper. We played card games, sang songs, played charades, and just laughed at all the crazy antics we all (7 of us) had. It was a cross country adventure with so many memories of innocence that I will always treasure.

I would love to win, I am all about homemade soaps...especially lemon verbena! My favorite memory is probably playing out in the yard until bedtime. We would run around with the neighbor kids selling lemonade, doing scavenger hunts and catching (then releasing) lightening bugs as the sun went down. Now that I have a little boy I hope that he can enjoy those simple times of childhood. Thank you for the giveaway!

My favorite summer memory is playing outside right after it rains. The air is warm and damp, the puddles, perfect for jumping in barefoot, are warm as well. There is just a special "air" in the air. We lived in a neighborhood and all the kids came out and we had a ball.

I LOVE SUMMER! My best friend (who I've been friends with pretty much since she was born and I was 3 months old, our mom's were friends)lived across the street and had a pool with a slide and "diving platform", which was a piece of wood secured to the corner of the shed. Here's an example of how I would spend almost every day...I remember waking up every morning and getting right into my swim suit, gobbling down cereal super fast cause we didn't want to miss a minute of the day. During the LONG 30 minute wait before we could get into the pool we'd sit with our feet in the pool trying so hard not to "slip" in. The days were spent playing Marco Polo, having races and making up fun games of our own. The worst part was having to get out to have lunch & dinner. Lots of corn on the cob & watermelon. Then going for a night swim with the pool lights on, having our dad's make up crazy ways to throw us in the pool until we'd almost fall asleep on our rafts. Now my BF & I are in our 40's, living in different states and every time we get together we turn into those little kids again, laughing and remembering all those great summer days. And how lucky we are to have such great memories.

Sorry it's so looooong.

Time to make a phone call and spend a few minutes talking and laughing about those times.

Thanks for having me remember!

Fourth of July @ My Aunt Dorothy's house. We went to the Parade, ate delicious barbeque, and capped the evening with my Uncle Swede showing off his skill,("Just don't burn down the house" Per Aunt Dot)
Homemade ice cream ( so cold it caused your brain to freeze) and then the finale, what we had been waiting for all day. We would find a comfortable spot, on the lawn, slopping down to street, lay back, and watch the color explode in the sky.....My dear aunt and Uncle are gone now..but the memory is a wonderful memory of childhood and family. You have a lovely blog, and I will visit often.

my sister and i were raised by our grandparents and as girly as we were (and still are), hands down, my favorite childhood memories are of my grandpa (and sometimes grandma too) taking us to the lake to go fishing. of course my sister and i were way too young to know how to work a real fishing pole so we used "cane poles" and since we didn't dare touch a worm, much less smash it onto a sharp bait hook, we fished with bits of hot dogs. it worked! we'd catch baby bluegill all day long! :) it wasn't anything fancy, didn't cost alot of money, and was even kinda gross. but we'd wear our tank tops, skirts and sandals and fish like little ladies beside grandpa on the bank of that lake and i will never, EVER, forget those days.

p.s. grandpa loves him some all natural soaps so if i win, he'll definitely be getting a bar (or two) for himself. :)

Every warm and fuzzy childhood memory is with my grandmother. We would garden together and cook side by side, but my fondest memory is of her and I sitting in the field behind her house looking for 4 leaf clovers for hours. When I found one she pressed it in a book for me. I realize now that she probably had a million other things to do, but I was so intent on finding a lucky clover that she stopped everything to help me.I remember thinking that she was more excited than I was when we found it! Love you blog, Paula

my favorite has to be from when my family got together for our annual summer cabin trip. Every year with more grandchildren being born, there are fewer places to sleep. Me, my husband, my then 3 year old and 10 month old all squished together on an air mattress in a small room. We didn't get great sleep, but it was the best to be all cuddly and fall asleep together each night in the woods!

We were lucky that as kids we were able to stay and play all summer long. When we were teenagers we found a orchard that had trees leaning over the lake. Every day a group of us would ride our bike to the orchard and lounge on the rocks at the lake taking turns swinging out over the water from the rope.

Some of my favorite memories of summer are the lazy fun times my sisters and the neighbor girls spent
in our large backyard - climbing trees, chasing bumble bees, playing in the "girls" only fort under the wonderful willow tree, counting the bamboo springing up all over the place, playing with and marveling over the sweet litter of kittens we had every year and licking Popsicle
when we got to hot after the water balloon toss.
Thanks
