Fall brings back to school memories, and reminds me of that chill in the air, new school supplies, and school clothes. My version of back to school these days involves organizing the office, drawers, and other areas of my house. Back to school means new and clean and full of possibility, and I like to organize to achieve that same feeling in my house this time of year. I also love to cozy up the nest with chunky blankets, throws, and candles. Bye bye shells, sand, and starfish...for another year.

I love fall, it's my favorite time of the year. We take a ride along the Utah canyons to enjoy the changing landscape, reds, yellows and oranges combined with the green of the blue spruces is spectacular. Baking cookies, enjoying a good magazine or book by the fireplace, the smells of cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin aaaahhhh! Fall is my absolute favourite time of year. I love the cool evenings, the crunch of leaves underfoot, the scents of cinnamon and apple, wearing cozy cardigans, walking after dark while a gentle wind collects these sounds and scents and takes me back to my childhood when all of these things combined created a sense of sweet adventure just around the corner. That adventure was Halloween, a night when anything could happen in the dark shadows while ghosts and witches roamed silently through the streets. Standing on the porches decorated with leaves and gaping jack o'lanterns with light from inside the houses welcoming us, but we're not going in - oh no - we belong out here; we are part of this magical night.
