~a galvanized bucket and stain update~

My neighbor was getting rid of this large bucket and he thought I might like it.
Well yes indeed I did, but it needed a little something to make it special!
I stenciled the front of it using black craft paint and a stencil I bought off etsy.
I filled it with fall flowers and ivy, and voila, a nice new planter for my yard!

I placed it near the bottom of the stairs leading to our front door
so you can see it as you walk up the path.
Well, our house is finally finished being stained.
They did have to strip off the color we hated.
The house, the detached garage and 2 out buildings.
 They weren't too thrilled.
It now has a much nicer color on it, and we are very happy.
Now the trim is being painted. It's about 50% done.
When it's done and the shutters and window boxes are back up I will be sure to share photos with you all! Hope you are having a great weekend!
xoxo

Your neighbors know you! Mine know me too, I get things left on my front porch all the time. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's not. I love it.
Enjoy the weekend~SueBee

I love it! My darling husband and I have just arrived back from Sam's club with an impulse purchase of a similar galvanized bucket full of Coke. with the logo on the front ($19.99) Then I found your post! Mine is nowhere as beautiful as yours but I had the same idea to put plants in it. My darling Hubby wants to fill it with Ice and drinks when friends come around. I guess I need to act quickly. =) Thnks for sharing, Sally xx

Very pretty. You know what they say: one neighbor's junk will make an awesome project for another neighbor and then the "junker" will be totally jealous and huffy that it looks so good in your yard. Ok, yeah, no one says that. I bet your neighbor is regretting the give away though!

I really need to order some french stencils some time. I see them on pillows and now your galvanized container. That is such a great idea to make something look old and french.

I just love it when I inherit stuff like that! It looks so pretty with the black stenciling on it. I was eyeing the buckets at IKEA a couple of weeks ago and was wondering what I could do with them-now I know!

Thanks!
