~seasonal decorating~

Just because it's fall, it doesn't mean you have to break out the pumpkins and Halloween decor just yet.
There are other ways to decorate for this season that aren't so literal.
For example, bring in warm colors like in the rug above. Change out your white dishes for some colorful ones, and add touches of black. An all white kitchen looks a lot more rustic and cozy with these textures and colors added.
For a simple, and free decor tip, go out to your yard to find items to display.
This is the perfect time of year for large branches in a vase or a simple pine cone garland.
Natural woods, nubby fabrics, cozy blankets, and a touch of orange scream Autumn!
And don't just stop at decorating!
Bring yummy colorful foods to the table.
When the weather turns outside this is the perfect time to stay cozy inside and bake.
Have you started bringing in touches of Autumn to your home?

Beautiful ideas! I always wait until October to put out the pumpkins and some of my other orange and yellow toned fall decorating items. I like semptember to still be about bringing in flowers from the garden, apples, and enjoying the still summer like weather.

I'm with you! I love the warmth of fall decor and it suits my home so well that I generally even incorporate it into Christmas. I'm not a fan of rushing the seasons or holidays. I like pumpkins in my house year round...I have strange pumpkin love. LOL

With the heat we have had here this summer Fall has come in like a breath of fresh air and the cooler temps have surely been welcomed. I have put out a few fall decorations but I am really trying to keep away from anything Halloweenish until October. I do have some grapevine pumpkins out though.

Great suggestions and tips - and wonderful photos....I so admire the simplicity and subtlety of that approach - unfortunately, I can never resist going over the top for Halloween....What can I say? I come from a long line of pumpkin hoarders! Think I need therapy! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

I loved all your ideas... especially the large branch in the vase. I'll be doing that tomorrow. Autumn is my favorite time of year to decorate and indeed it isn't all about the pumpkins. Thank you for your inspirational photographs.
