~ {fairly} new back splash tile in our kitchen~

I did this little project this winter and never blogged about it.
Probably because our kitchen hasn't been clean long enough to take a picture!
Originally we had the same granite on the back splash as we do on the counter tops. I thought it was a bit boring and I needed a project, so I picked out this tile from Home Depot.

It's better looking in person than the photo shows.
It has a lot of irregularities, which I love.
Gives it a ton of texture.
When our money tree starts producing we will update this counter top with
black honed granite which our island has, below.
My parents have a fabulous white lilac tree which I helped myself to yesterday.
You can see a little more of the variations in color in these close up shots.

Do you see the lake out the window?
Probably my favorite view from the whole house.
It has been unusually warm here for May, and the kids have spent everyday after
school in the water until their bedtime.

When the whole kitchen is spic and span, I'll do a tour.
Probably in about 2017.

Ha Ha! I totally understand - but at least you show the rest of your lovely home - I'm always dodging a child's shoe, or a dog toy in my photos, so half the time I just give up. What is it about a plumped up cushion, primed and styled perfectly for a photo session, that so attracts a previously disinterested dog or child!!
Your tiles are gorgeous - LOVE your soap dish and soap. Such beautiful attention to details.

The tile looks gorgeous!!
The sunny days must be so nice after a really wet early spring.
Such a wonderful way for your kids to grow up...getting to play in the lake!

I love this look. Your kitchen looks fabulous and homey (is that a word?). Very inviting. Would love to sit in your kitchen and chat over coffee.

Beautiful.. Love the texture of the window shade and how cool that the clock is haning over it. Would never have done that but Love how it looks. Oh and the tile is so great.

You know what else would look amazing on your countertops, Ikea butcher block, router the edges and it’ll look full custom.

I was there the other day and was pleasantly surprised at the price and quality.

This is my next project.

Enjoy the sunshine!!!

The new backsplash is great! Your view is to dream of. How do you keep up with the honed granite, I have it on all counters in my kitchen en it is hard to clean, since you can't use any product on it. If you have any suggestions I would like to hear them!

Have a nice day!

Looks great! I understand why you are never moving from that house. A view like that is pretty darn special! Let alone all the other attributes of living there!
The money tree comment cracked me up!

Love the new backsplash! I'm so jealous of your lilacs. I'm not sure what went wrong this year, but our lilac doesn't seem to be blooming. Looking forward to that kitchen tour. Thanks for sharing.

Love your new backsplash! Great job! The white lilacs are so classic, they look wonderful on the counter!

We are just now making decisions and I hope I'm not disappointed as I ended up just extending our countertop 4"...there are waaay too many choices!!! Doesn't take much to overwhelm my little head:) So then I opt for easy!

We will also be looking out our kitchen window at a lake so I'm focusing on that and thinking any hard surface mistakes I make I'm just going to keep looking out the window! Nature doesn't make mistakes!

Your home is lovely!

That tile looks perfect in your kitchen! I grew up on a lake in Marysville WA. I so remember those warm last weeks of school. We would hop off the bus and race into our swimsuits and jump into the lake. Love those memories.

Also very curious to find out how the upkeep is on the honed granite... it looks lovely but I've read so many varying experiences with it. Some love it, some hate it. Thanks!

Using granite for your kitchen countertops adds a touch of class, elegance, and sophistication to your kitchen. Well, your samples are a good inspiration for other people as they design their own kitchen. You made a good choice with its style and color. It really looks neat and clean. Beautiful!!

Backsplashes are designed to protect the wall behind a stove or countertop from stains and damages. Your choice, when it comes to texture, made the tile even more beautiful and unique. And the view of the lake is absolutely refreshing and stress-relieving! You're so lucky to blessed with a view of nature from there. :)
