Oh a painting of my cat Dante would be a dream!
Now Dante is a guy that keeps me warm at night, no matter how cold or..hot it is...:) He's a sweetheart who we adopted at the mature age of 3, and it took two years for him to get accepted by the other family cats.
It might have had something to do with that he'd only drink water from the fish tank, or later, when that was removed, from the tap, running... or something else, that I wouldn't know anything about, me being human.
So, yes, I'd love to win a pet portrait of our Dante... :)

I would love to enter for a chance to get a portrait of my sister's dog. She's had her since she was a pup 10 years ago and it's her pride and joy. Two years ago she found out she was very very ill but with all the TLC she gives her she's outlived everyone's expectations. So, I think this would be the perfect (upcoming birthday) present for her. She'd definitely cherish it forever! :-)

Harley, my cat, is who I'd have painted. He went blind about 6 months ago but he still looks at us with love in his sightless eyes. He's about 18 years old - we don't know for sure because we rescued him 14 years ago from the humane society. I absolutely fell in love with the middle-aged cat with no tail that no one else wanted and he adores us just as much (or more). I think of your Harley daily and hope & pray for his return. Hugs.

I have shared Harley's info with his puppy raiser, Melissa and she forwarded it to her whole puppy club, relatives and friends in the area. I think about him every day and check your blog to see if he's back. Sending more prayers your way.

I would have one done of our beloved, little man Finnegan who passed away 6 years ago. He was the most gentle soul I have ever met. He was a lab and basset hound mix rescue who came from an extremely abusive home. He was loved by everyone who met him. He taught me so much about life - about not ever giving up, and that it doesn't matter how your life begins, you can always have a happy ending. He gave me the greatest gifts you could ever receive from another living being.....unconditional love, pure joy, humor, compassion, hope, and an extreme love of life. He may be gone from our lives physically, but he is forever in our hearts.

On a final note, Melaine. We have been praying daily for Harley's safe return. We feel the same way about our fur babies - we love them like they are our own human children. Don't ever give up - miracles can happen. Animals are returned to their families after being gone for lengthy periods of time. We will keep praying for him, you, and the rest of your family - hoping that he will be returned safely to your loving care very soon. Hugs

Wow this is so hard to decide... it would either be Sammy the stray tom we adopted 20 years ago when I was pregnant with our eldest. We had to have him put down just prior to our move to Alaska as he was failing and would not have survived the trip. He had also been diagnosed with FIV on his first vet visit after we took him in and had already lived much longer than any vet had anticipated. (he was about 5 when we got him... lived another 12 years.)
The other possibility would be Caleb, another stray.. this time a feisty dog of unknown pedigree. He was hit by a truck on April Fool's day just after our move to Indiana (from Alaska)... to this day he is still missed greatly! He may have been such a mischievous little imp but he was loved by all!

I would love a painting of our latest rescue dog, "Trouble." We thought he was a black lab "pup" but turned out to have his adult teeth and is thought (by the vet) to be a terrier lab mix. We too live in a forested area where he is adept at finding all manner of trouble, hence the name. When I am not chasing him or scrubbing off skunk spray, he is a great source of entertainment and brings us much needed comic relief. My heart goes out to you and your family. We currently rent a home on a farm. Each Spring our landlord gets 4 new calves and my husband (being from the city of Detroit) is obessed with them. Each day he stops to talk to them as he is driving up the driveway coming home from work. Every season he names them and his favorite currently is named "white-face moo-cow". I would LOVE to have a painting of this cow for us to always have!!! So very sorry about Harley. My daughter, Savannah, lives in Seattle and have told her to keep an eye out for you. Hope Harley comes home soon :)

I would love a painting of our boy, Roger. He is a 14 year old chocolate lab mix and will not be with us much longer. We have had him since he was a pup.

Melaine, this certainly is a popular giveaway!! I would live to have a custom portrait done of our two Pygmy Goats, Annabelle and Penelope. It is so hard to find anything decor of goats, so if I'm going to get something goat it might as well be my cute little munchkins!!!

I have a 15 year old cat with such an old soul. He is my best friend. My daughter found him abandoned in a dumpster and brought him home to me. I would love to have a portrait of Otis so that I will always remember his great spirit. He's one of a kind1

My dog Roxy has a striking resemblance to The Blue Dog, especially her ears. I would love to see a portrait of her displayed in my home.

I've been wanting a portrait of my dog for quiet some time now. She's a labradoodle and truly helped me recover from having a carotid artery tear in my brain and 2 strokes. I was in bed for almost 2 yrs and she never left my side. I love her to pieces and this would be such a joy to have as a keepsake.

Thank you!

I would have a picture of our dog Sammy painted. She died two weeks ago today and I've been thinking about how nice it would be to have something like this to remember her by.

I would have our older Jack Russell painted. Her name is Millie and we've had her for 11 years - she was a stray but has been the best dog ever!

Hi Melanie,

I was at Becca's Blog and saw your blog with "Meet Oakley" and stopped over. I've been reading and reading...and saw that your dog, Harley ran away and you haven't found him. (my ♥ breaks for you) I kept reading...and found this post about Juan and his watercolor portraits. We're (hubby & I) decided to have one done of our pup, Benny, who died on December 7th. We want to remember him with that. Our Benny went very quickly and at only 4 1/2 yrs old. If you want, you can read about him here: http://thecomfortofasafeplace.blogspot.com/2013/12/bennys-story.html

I'm adding you to my Blog Roll and will be visiting often.

Merry Christmas!
Jan ♥
