~round top texas lodging~

I mentioned briefly that I will be attending the Round Top Flea markets
in Texas in October.

However, I have never been and I have no idea where to stay!
Is there any of my readers from Round Top or around that area that might be able to tell me of a good place to stay?
It can be a hotel, motel, bed and breakfast, a guest house in someones home, a yard to pitch a tent…..

I'm really not picky!
Please leave a comment here or email me at:

I really would appreciate it!
The dates are October 2-5 if that matters.

Hi Melaine,
I went for the first time last fall and went at the last minute. B & B's fill up fast so I ended up staying at the Comfort Suites in Brenham. It turned out to be a good location and it has a free breakfast buffet. It's inexpensive and it's not fancy, but it was clean and nearby!

Are you meeting friends who can show you around? If not, let me know and I can private message you about the show and where I went. (You can contact me via my blog www.lilacsandlonghorns.com)

I'm thinking about heading back down in the fall (I live in DFW) so maybe I'll see you there!

Hi Melanie,
On the V.R.B.O. site ( vacation rentals by owner ) there are two 1 bedroom cabins. VRBO Listing #376080 and #474631. I just typed in Round Top vrbo on Yahoo. I have used VRBO for more than a dozen vacations and trips even as far as Guana Cay,Bahama's. I have never had a bad experience !
Maybe you can share a bigger rental with other ladies going.
Regards, Melinda

I stayed here (http://www.wellspringretreat.net/) years ago for an educational retreat, and it was wonderful.

Hi Melanie,

I recently moved to the NW from Austin,TX and one of the things I will miss most is Round Top. Lodging is competitive. The spring show is at the first of April and most places start booking the fall show immediately after and known guests get to book first. The B and B, we stayed in many times recently closed , but here are a few places that I have heard good things about. Have a wonderful time. Round Top chamber of commerce has a great list.

The Vintage Round Top-house,so it would be great if you are traveling with a group
Rusty Bike Inn
Round Top inn-hard to get into
The prairie (Rachel Ashwell) -impossible to get into
Ant Street inn-lovely, great beds, just a bit of a distance
Brenham house- bit of a distance

Hi Melaine-
I grew up in that area and can tell you that you won't want to stay in Round Top. The traffic is congested and the prices will be steep for antique fair week. I'd try nearby LaGrange and Fayetteville for hotel/motel and B&B, and book as soon as you can because they will fill up!
I'll probably go in the fall as well - my sister lives nearby so I'm lucky :)

I just heard one of the top beaches in the states is in Texas, don't think it will be swimsuit weather but might be worth the look.

Padre islands, very pretty, saw it on a travel review.

The flea market sounds fun, take lots of pictures.

I have been to Round Top twice and stayed at Murski Homestead b&b in Brenham. It is great! And Pam prepares awesome breakfasts for you. I would highly recommend it! I am jealous, wish i were going.

My in-laws have a fun re-decorated shasta trailer and they join the ranks of all the glampers. It sure ain't your momma's trailer park! In fact some trailers are decorated better than my house! :)

Melanie, my sister and I went last year in april and stayed in Rockdale, Tx which is about an hour away and at the cutest little motel called Rainbow Courts. It was the best little place. I would definitely go back there.

Fayetteville about 15-20 miles away has little houses you can rent but I can't remember the company name that leases them. Or rent a motorhome and you can park at different areas in and around the area. Sometimes just steps away from your booth.
I've never gotten as far as Round Top we always find so much in Warrenton. I may have to make sure it a point to make it to Round Top this fall.
