~a teen room makeover for Savannah~

In 2010 we gave our daughter a makeover on her room while she was away at camp.
You can see that post here.
But over the last 4 years, her tastes have changed and it was time for a update.

My driving force for the makeover, was that Cottages and Bungalows Magazine was coming out for a photo shoot. So over the course of 2 weeks I transformed her room into something that we both love.
{warning~lots of photos coming,
sources will be listed at the bottom of this post}

Here is the entrance to her room.
The main change here is the paint color on the walls.

I stripped all the paint off her antique closet door and left it as is.

I also painted her bed black and added the top pieces using 1x2's
I am also in love with her new bedding and pillows!

I added new sconces and a new chandelier as well.
The DIY for the zebra rug can be found here.

Beautiful room! Your wood floors are similar to what I have been looking at. Did you install yourself? Glue down/nail down? Is there a blog post on them? Thanks so much, Sara

I adore that antique door!! It really brings the room together!! Did you ever think of bringing back the stone wall that was there were the TV is? I think it would go perfectly with the décor of the room now!!! Either way Savannah is one lucky lady!!

Beautiful Melanie. Timeless!! LUV the dark wood against the pale walls. Have them in our home as well.
Savannah is a lucky young lady!!

Melanie...this room is Beautiful! Weird question...are the sconces wired? How high is the ceiling in the room and how high did you hang the sconces. I am putting finishing touches on my daughters room and need to add wall lights but I want to add plug in, not wired. We may convert our house to a rental in a year so I don't want to wire wall lights. Thanks. Also...did you reuse anything from her 2010 room?

Your makeover is absolutely magnificent! I like the very chic and classy accents you've put up in the room, like the wall art, the decor pieces and the drapes. Also, that bed is just inviting. It looks so comfortable. Thank you for sharing pictures of the makeover! I hope all your future projects will be as equally beautiful!
