While I love our barstools, I feel like they are a bit too cottagey
{is that a word?}

There is so many choices out there and I just can't decide.

I like the first two, both style-wise and comfort-wise. The rest are attractive, but most look very uncomfortable for sitting in very long. Personally, I can't sit more than 10 minutes on a chair without a back, and those flat hard seats look like torture.
the last one! mylene! but...not sure about comfort level! love the look though!!
If you really like the last two, you can get drafting stools (usually school supply stores) for a lot cheaper. Some now are even padded.
I think the wishbone chair would look great!
#5 is my favorite! And I also like the last two. It brings a more masculine vibe, getting away from cutesy.
I love the ones you have! I say paint the. A distressed black and change out the cushions I think that's what gives them the cottage look you could do a really cool modern fabric with no ruffle 😀
I like the ones you have but of the list you showed I would pick the last one. My favorite ones are the ones with the cross back from Restoration Hardware. I'm sure whatever you decide on will be perfect.
#2 and #7 are my favorites!
#2 and #11 would look great!! Love your kitchen!!
#10!
#5! If you love #6, you should check out these stools at CB2 (http://www.cb2.com/wainscott-24-counter-stool/s579053).
Also, there were sooo many ads all over this post that I could hardly see your cute collection of barstools :(
Can you just take your ruffled cushions off your existing stools? I think that's what is making them look too cottagy.
The first one for sure!!
Sheldon!
This is the most timely post for me to read! I am currently in a bar stool dilemma, myself and have obsessing over every option. I love the selection you posted here! Just by looking at your kitchen, I think I like 1, 2 and 3. (See I am real decisive!) Have you looked at the Crate and Barrel Delta stool? They are stainless but you can add a cushion. They might look nice too. Either way, you have great taste so I am sure you will choose something perfect!

The cushions are nice but I agree they are making the stools look cottagey. They are really classic. I would remove the cushions and paint them a bit darker, maybe similar to the Sheldon, so they blend into the island more. Alternately, I would select a stool based on comfort and durability.
love all the stools :) but was wondering if you would mind telling me where you purchased the wooden piece on your counter , that is sitting in the corner with the bowl on it? have been searching for one :)
Hi Melaine!
I too am on the perfect barstool hunt:)
I love #3! The wood back would tie into the look of the dining chairs if I remember correctly. I love that it is black and wood mix. I think that it would pop and connect pieces such as the pedestal on the counter and cohesion to wood elements that are in rest of the house.
There are some really cute options from this website that have cushion or tie in the element of your dining chairs: the Madewell, Octane and Pursuit stool.

Anything you choose though will be awesome. There are so many choices out there! Good luck!

I think your current stools only look cottagey due to the cushions...what if you took those off and painted them...black? grey?
#1!
#7 and #9 add a little more modern touch ! Throw things off a bit with your kitchen style yet would work great !!!
#1#1#1 all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with "anonymous". If you remove the cushions and paint the stools that you have black or dark grey they would look awesome. Of course if you really are just ready for something new, that's ok too!
Yes, remove the ruffles. Paint them something metallicy. I love Rustoleum's new color Flat Soft Iron. Ooh, that gives me an idea for my barstools that I think are too wood looking (lol). But if you are still in for new ones I think that #4 would go best with your space.
I love #1
4, 5, or 8. Please not number one. The proportions of that stool look funny. But I love everything you do and I know whatever you pick will look great. Good luck...
2 or 5
I love #4
I like #2, I think the color and style would look great in your kitchen. I also love the current ones!
#3 the swivel bar stool, definitely!
Love #1 & #2. And I love ordering from wayfair! !
Love #1 & #2. And I love ordering from wayfair! !
#5 would be perfect.
5 and 6, I love the industrial look!
Bentwood #9
I own 4 of #3 LOVE them, they are light weight enough to move easily, have a swivel but NOT and auto return (auto return have a tendency to swing back and hit the edge of your counter), and a leatherish seat for easy cleanup. Here's a link to where I purchased mine for $129 https://www.ashleyfurniturehomestore.com/p/pinnadel-counter-height-barstool/d542-124/
#5 or #11 are speaking to me. Not sure how comfortable they are though...
As lovely as these are, might I suggest an alternative? After living with a myriad of counter stools with backs I opted for a backless industrial counter stool for our new home. So much better to hop on/hop off. Easier for conversation and eating when you have to get up and down. Overstock has Tabouret 40" in Vintage or Gunmetal for $104.99 for 2! Can't beat that!

I love the #1 best though I also agree with the comment that it's the cushion with the box pleat that gives your existing stools a cottage feel.....Painting and distressing them would simplify them and streamline their look.
#5!
#4 or #7 (although they are very different from each other)...they look more comfortable too!
#4 I have done similar to these. I love them.
My favorite is the Turners Landing. The nail heads are so timeless and the stools look comfortable to sit on.
my favorites are number 11 Mylene and number 2 although is seems very similar to what you already have. Mylene for looks but may be a bit too industrial for your marble walled kitchen. May look very restoration hardware though. AB
#2! Makes me wish I had a bar!
#5 but the reviews are not that good :(
I honestly like the Madeline stools from Restoration hardware. The are currently on sale and I think they would be a great complement to your kitchen. From the options you gave, I think #5 would be a great contrast and would give the space a more modern country feel. Good luck! Can't wait to see what you choose!!
#4 hands down!!!
I also think your current ones could be updated with black paint. But the black leather ones are great and also the wishbone are great it is a tuff choice! I am having the same problem at my house! I repurposed some from my old house and can't decide on new ones.
Oh my goodness, too many beautiful choices!!! I love #'s 4, 5, and 6. I do think the look of wood in your kitchen would be stunning! Can't wait to see what you choose.
I vote for option 8 as they black will go with your kitchen. ♥
Lisa from Indiana
I love #5....but wonder about comfort.... Good luck!
#5. Good luck!!
I like #6 because it has no back, fits nicely under the counter and gives the illusion of more space.
# 6
Hi, Melain.
I like 1, 2, & 3. I think they "fit" your kitchen style & they have the swivel seats. I also really like your present chairs -- but I think the ruffled cushions are perhaps what is driving your "need" to replace the chairs. Why not try removing the cushions or replacing them with something that feels less "cottagey" It's a less expensive alternative that might be worth a try (you can always return the new cushions & buy new chairs)
I like #2 or #4, both look really comfortable and would be so pretty. #2 has a similar look to the ones you have...but have a slightly more paris cafe chair look. I have chairs similar to #4 and they are so comfy, but still pretty!
For the difference I would take those Ruffles off, paint the chairs dark gray and add new cushions... Save yourself a lot of money to be spent elsewhere. Good luck! Your kitchen is beautiful. Rebecca
I agree with Rebeca and Tammy about removing the ruffled cushions and painting the ones you have; black and gray would both be great choices. Good luck!
Number one or two! Beautiful kitchen, love your selections. Can you please tell me the source of your gooseneck sconce? Thanks!
number 4, love it.
Lamps plus!
Love the first two but if I had to pick one I'd go for the "Sheldon".
1. Swivel
2. McGregor
And the source of the island lights please?
I really like the ones you have already. They look comfortable for sitting. The others are stylish but do not look comfortable. I say paint the ones you have and have a more updated washable slipcover for the cushion on top of them. Loose the ruffles and the country look with go away too.
#1 for the swivel and cushion but #5 for the black iron!!
#5 add more industrial accents
Definitely 5 for your kitchen. Love the clean lines. The wood for warmth and the metal for a touch of industrial. Looks family friendly as well.
#4 The Mcgregor for sure!!
Have you seen the Jan/Feb issue of "Country Living" magazine? There are stools on the Contents page that I think would look great in your space. They are rather similar to another set you have listed, albeit in a different finish. Regardless of what you choose I am sure you'll be be very happy. I very much enjoy your website. :)
Source of island pendants please?
I love the bentwood? The stool that's white with the natural legs😍
I love the two-tone legs of the bentwood bar stool and think that the style suits your kitchen. While I love 5 & 6, not sure if it would flow with the rest of the design. Agree with other posters that if you remove the cushions and play with paint, you could re-vamp what you have!
One that swivels for sure.
I like #3 and #4 the best, although #4 is not quite as practical since it would be more difficult to keep clean. Whichever you choose, I'm sure they will look wonderful.
I would say #5 or you could remove the cushions from the bar stools you already have and they would look a lot less cottagey.
I love the McGregor and the Turners Landing❤️
I love #11!
No. 4
I like the swivel, the wishbone and the Henson.
