~throwback thursday~{4th of July decorating}

Throwing it way back to 2010 when our home was featured cottage of the month at The Old Painted Cottage. Sadly, Jennifer is not doing cottage of the month anymore, but you can view all the archives here.

I was so excited to be featured and decorated more than I normally do for the 4th of July.
I added all the red, white, and blue I could find.

Even bringing out a red colander from the kitchen to hold magazines in the living room.

On our old dining room shelving I added touches of red and white even in the cookies.

Back in the day I used to make signs almost daily and sell them.

This was our dining room where the black hutch sits now.
I made the bunting out of a flag that had seen better days and was full of holes.
I think I still have this somewhere in the attic and I should get it out for this year.
The little flags in the pitcher were from the dollar store I believe.

Making these little scrabble signs is super easy too, and can be customized for just about anything.
You can glue the pieces on or just rest them on the board so you can switch them out easily.

Since 2010 we have expanded our driveway a bit to add a little basketball "court"
I will show you some before and after photos tomorrow so please come back!

Do you decorate for the 4th of July?

Thanks for all the great ideas for 4th of July decorating. I hope you don't mind, but I want to copy your Scrabble tiles "Liberty" sign. :) Our precious dog was named Liberty...she is in Heaven now, but we still love and miss her and this will be an extra special touch in our home this Fourth! Love your blog!

I like your use of stone and other natural features.
