~simple fall porch design~

I love welcoming porches and ones that are decorated for the seasons/holidays.
Today I am sharing with you our fall porch in our last fall blog hop put on by Country Living and  Kristen at

This porch sits outside our basement/mud room entry.
It's small, but you can cram a lot of stuff in small areas as you are about to see!
I removed our bikes for the season and replaced them with this potting bench.
Ok, I am seriously in love with this! Its from Joss and Main, so you know it didn't cost a fortune, and the weathered wood shelves are perfect and the bright green chippy metal adds a pop of color to the porch. It was also super easy to put together, and it's versatile for every season! I didn't want to add to much clutter to it, so I simply added different colored pumpkins and squashes. I love how the green and orange look together.

On the other side of the french doors, I added some fall flowers and a lantern with battery operated candles. They come on at dusk and turn themselves off about 4 hours later. I love products like this that don't require any work!

Our lab really wanted to be a part of the photo shoot :)
The wood crate outside the door holds muddy shoes.

A big galvanized bucket holds some clay pots and more pumpkins and squash.

If your porch is covered consider bringing indoor pieces out.
This painting of a bridge here at Crystal Lake was a gift painted by my dad.
I love how the colors look next to the pumpkins and the green metal.

The ceramic pumpkin below was a thrift store find and has a silly face on the other side. As we get closer to Halloween I'll turn it around and put another battery operated light in it.

Another tip of mine.
Mix in squashes with your pumpkins.
They are less expensive and usually come in a variety of unusual colors.

This picture kind of shows you where this room is on our house. The dining room is above it with the window boxes that I still need to add fall color too. The boxwoods stay in year round and I just add seasonal annuals from time to time.

I love it! Can I ask where you found the lantern and candles?

Love the height of the potting bench-- makes it visually balanced with the sign and topiary on the other side. That shot with the Boxwood Bungalow and the topiary with the cedar shakes is a winner tho-- so gorgeous!
