How many people run down to the dollar store this time of year for inexpensive Halloween decor?
I am one of them and I love transforming cheap items into items that look more like they are from a boutique.
First of all, I can't take the credit for this idea. It came from my friend Randi, you can read her adorable post here.
I decided to try my hand at this project so I headed on down to the Dollar Tree.
I came home with a bunch of skeletons and some black ribbon.
They had mummy skeletons and non mummy skeletons, as well as this one on a stand.
I bought them all.
When I got home I raided my craft room and found black and white craft papers.
Next I printed out a party hat template.
You can find one easily by doing a google search.
I scaled it down to size and cut out the hats.
I had this vintage looking tinsel garland, but if you don't you can use pipe cleaners.
Cut a little piece off and hot glue to the top of the hat.
Then hot glue the hat to the top of the skeleton head.
The last step is to hot glue tinsel around the bottom of the hat.
You can add add ribbon, lace, or pipe cleaners around the neck as well.
Didn't they turn out so cute?
I like making Halloween decorating cute rather than scary.
I found some of the tinsel I used here if you wish to purchase some.
Come back tomorrow and see how I have decorated the house for the holiday!
