~the story behind our family room gallery wall~

When you first walk into our living/family room you will see a big gallery wall filled with photos.
First of all, let me say that I think any art you hang on your walls should have meaning to you and your family.

There is nothing like hanging up a random TJ Maxx {nothing against TJ Maxx!}
print of something just to fill a space.
Choose art that has meaning to you!

I like to frame our kids artwork, family photos, etc.
Where this example really shows is in this room:

 Here I carefully selected 12 black and white photos from our neighborhoods archives of old Crystal Lake photos.

 They aren't anything fancy.
In fact, they are photocopies I made at Kinkos.
BUT, they have special meaning to us.
There are pictures that date back to the 1930's!
There are photos of our elderly neighbors when they were 3 and 4 years old.
There is a photo of our old lodge that burnt down in the 1980's.

These make us smile every time we look at them and really tell a story about the special place that we live.

I framed them in Ikea Ribba frames, a good way to go to keep the cost down.
What are some special things you like to frame?
