~the evolution of our master bedroom~

Around the year 2000, we added onto our bedroom, adding a walk in closet and a few feet into the backyard.
This room used to be covered in cedar, walls, ceiling, you name it. It also had sliding doors that went out onto a deck, now Savannah's room.

After the remodel this is what the room looked like.
I thought it would be fun to show you the different looks over the years and include some links to products I've used.

The frames above the bed are Ikea Ribba frames which I still use today.
The bed was a new purchase and came with a matching console table which we still use today, similar here and  here.
I made the sign above the bed which reads, "happily ever after"
The night tables, candle sconces, chair, lamps, and chandelier, were all thrift shop or garage sale purchases.
The bolster was Pottery Barn.
Please keep in mind this was 17 years ago!

Then I decided it was time for an update a couple years later.
I painted the top half of the wall with Benjamin Moore "graphite"
{pic not true to color} and the bottom half a off white.
I used our same bed but painted it.
I hung cheap bamboo blinds {non functioning} and Ikea Aina white curtains.
I did get a new chandelier from Restoration Hardware at the outlet when we still had one.
You can find a similar one here.
The bench at the foot of the bed was a nice addition.
I found it at a flea market but you can find a similar one here.
I happen to find two matching chests of drawers at Goodwill and painted those to match the headboard. Later on I added marble to the tops.
I swapped out the pictures above the bed for this sign and added a little ottoman.
I got some weathered shabby wood lamps {similar} and hung vintage botanicals.
This is also the time we added sliding barn doors on our closet and bathroom.
I had the ruffled monogrammed euro shams made by Sew A Fine Seam.
I also threw on some cream velvet lumbar pillows from Pottery Barn which I still have.
The rug was moved from our dining room in here, to try and hide that ugly brown carpet.
{what were we thinking?}
I also think this is the time I started to fall in love with linen bedding, and added a linen duvet cover.

Moving on.
Would you like to see it decorated for Christmas?
This picture shows the true color.
For the holidays I swapped out the sign above the bed for a great piece by my friend
Rhonda Addison.
The tree is from Balsam Hill and I added silver and gold ornaments and burlap ribbon.
I added some cheetah pillows to the all white bedding and a white poinsettia on the night stand.

Then my style changed a little and I decided to give our bedroom another little makeover.
I was wanting to mix in a little modern with the vintage.
So I got this fabulous brass chandelier from Lucent Light Shop and I love it!
As I mentioned above, I really started loving linen, so I swapped out my cotton drapes for white linen ones from Barn and Willow.
Then I added the juju hat.
I should mention that before the juju hat, I had this sign hanging, which I also love.
I also got rid of the non functional cheap blinds and got these that actually work, ha, who would've thought!
I got a new bed, super inexpensive from non other than Ross Dress For Less!
The burlap pillows are old from Restoration Hardware.
The pink pillow can be found here.
I also dressed up the lower portion of the walls with box trim.

I got a more neutral bench and a great rug with a graphic punch from here.
Also, somewhere in this process we got rid of the brown shag carpet and got a grey carpet which is still comfy underfoot, but way less dated.

And then I learned of a thing called "cordless lamps" and my mind was blown.
No more cords? Sign me up.
I got these beauties, which added to the more modern look.
I kept one of the Restoration Hardware pillows on the bed for texture, but added these Euro shams for color.

So what do you think?
Do you have a favorite look?
Please don't say it's the one from 2000, ha ha.
Of course I will keep tweaking, but that's the fun of it right?
I think between our newly renovated master bath and this room, they are my favorites.
Thanks for taking a walk down memory lane with me!

xoxo
