DIY Rae Dunn inspired Easter trivet

I spotted a really cute wood bread board in the dollar spot {although it was $5} at Target yesterday. It was plain wood but had cute white bunny ears on it.

I have been wanting to make something for Easter and thought this was the perfect blank slate for a Rae Dunn inspired Easter trivet.

Here is how you can make one too!

Start with your blank wood trivet.

I couldn't find these online, so you might have to scoop one up next time you are in Target.

Print out this pattern in a 5x7 on plain printer paper.

Flip the paper over and scribble pencil all over the back of the lettering.

Once that is done, flip it back over and tape it to your board.

Using a ballpoint pen and pressing firmly, trace over the lettering.

Remove paper. The pencil lead will have transferred onto the wood.

If it didn't transfer dark enough, you may not have been pressing hard enough.

Using black craft paint and a fine paintbrush, paint over your penciled in letters.

Don't let this step intimidate you. This font is very forgiving and it doesn't need to be perfect.

If you would like to distress it a little, wait till dry and lightly go over it with a fine grit sanding block or sandpaper.

Display your piece for the spring season!

Not bad for a $5 project and 15 minutes of your time!
