giant m and m cookie + a fun way to show them off

What is better than a warm cookie?

How about a GIANT warm cookie? 

I have always wanted to have a jar on my kitchen counter filled with giant cookies to resemble a fun bakery.

I picked up one of these jars, size small,  and ordered this label in white.

Then onto the baking, the fun part! It took quite a few times to get the exact size down to where as when they cooked and got bigger, they'd turn out really close to the circumference of the jar, which is 5 3/4"


If you want to fill the jar with them stacked on top of each other, you will need to double or even triple this recipe. I say triple because having too much cookie dough is never a problem!

Ok, so once you make the dough {and I used m and m/s instead of chocolate chips for a more colorful cookie} you will want to fill a 1/2 cup measuring cup with the dough. Pack it in firmly and them dump it out onto your cookie sheet. Repeat this 3 times so you have three cookies on the center of each sheet. Then, to get the perfectly round shape, you'll want to roll each one into a ball, pressing down lightly on the top to flatten. I then topped mine with a few more m and m/s loosely on top.

I believe I cooked these from 9-11 minutes each but 11 minutes was best. You don't want to burn them but you also don't want to have them so gooey that they break in your hands.

When they are doing cooking, place on a cooling rack to harden.

While they are cooling you can add your COOKIES sticker to the side of your jar. Then stack them up as high as you can go!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Plus 1  TBLS Butter Softened
  • 3/4 Cup Plus 2 Tsp White Sugar
  • 1 Cup Plus 2 TBLS  Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1  Tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2/3 Cup Plus 1 TBLS  White Flour
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 3.5  Cups M And M's Plus More For Topping

Instructions:

  1. In large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
  2. Gradually add flour, salt, and baking soda, beating until well blended. Stir in M and M's
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for around 11 minutes. Let cool before removing from rack
