our new gallery wall

Our dining room walls recently were updated with some fun black and white art and photos.

I had fun creating this wall with old family photos mixed in with some other art I already had.

It's definitely a hodge podge but I love the look and it was really quick and easy to change out.

I started out by removing the old art from the wall. Then I lightly penciled in {you have to look really closely at this photo to see it} where the top and bottom of the gallery wall would be.

I had several of the frames already, but I also added in this huge one with a giant mat, and some of these after a quick trip to Target. The James Bond printable was from here and framed by Framed & Matted.

Next I measured out the size of the overall area I wanted to cover on the wall and marked it out on the floor. I grabbed the nearest thing to mark the corners with which is why you see airplane bottles in the photo, haha.

This is an important step to do when creating a gallery wall. I had to move several frames around to get the look I wanted.

Once I had the layout figured out I started hanging them. I always have a level, a pencil, and a tape measure on hand. When I hang gallery walls I mark up the wall quite a bit with pencil. A magic eraser takes the lines off easily when you are finished.

Here is the semi finished photo. I still need to get a couple  of photos enlarged. As you can see I also did the wall to the right next to the window. I love how it turned out. Very simple and very neutral, just how I am liking things these days!

I posted this photo on Instagram and got a lot of questions on the chairs. They are the Elena chair and you can find them here.

xoxo, Melaine
