how to make a gingerbread house ornament

This could be one of the easiest ornaments to make and it is super fun to do. Grab a friend, your kids, whomever, and have a blast making this!

Supplies needed:

Small wood birdhouse

stain

small foam brush

drill with small drill bit

thin ribbon or fishing line

caulk

Instructions:

The first thing you need to do is to stain your birdhouse. Pick a color that you think looks closest to gingerbread. You can use a small foam brush or you can put it on with paper towels. Paint the top, side, bottom, everywhere, then let dry. I let mine dry overnight.

The next part is the fun part. Using your caulk, decorate your house similar to how you would decorate a gingerbread house using frosting. If you'd like to sketch it out with pencil first you totally can! Makes it a bit easier.

Here are a few tips:

Google gingerbread houses to see some examples of how they are decorated. I actually googled "gingerbread house coloring pages" to find simple ones. Your house is way smaller so you will not be able to decorate it as elaborately, but you will get some ideas.

Next, don't take it too seriously. If you make a mistake you can quickly wipe off the caulk and try again.Let fully dry before proceeding to the next step.

The last step is to drill a hole in the top and thread ribbon or fishing line through to make a hanger.

Aren't they cute? I love the whimsical look of them while they are still neutral and fit in with many styles.
