hot cocoa bomb recipe with FREE printable

February is the perfect month to make hot cocoa bombs!

I am going to show you how easy it is to make these, how delicious they are, and how you can package them up super cute for your sweetie on Valentine's Day!

First up you will need the molds for the bombs themselves.

Gather the following items:

Chocolate chips. I used white chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate.

Vegetable oil.

Hot cocoa, any flavor.

Mini marshmallows.

Toppings such as superfine sugar, sprinkles, etc.

A ziplock bag to drizzle the chocolate on the tops.

Silcone molds.

Spoons.

Wax paper or parchment paper.

Let's get started!

The first thing you will need to do is determine what color you want your shell to be.

Pour a bag of chocolate chips in a microwave safe dish. Add a couple teaspoons of vegetable oil and stir.

Place the bowl in microwave and slowly melt the chocolate chips, stirring every 45 seconds. Watch closely so it doesn't burn.

Once all the chocolate is melted, add a small spoonful into each mold, covering the bottom and sides.

Place mold in the freezer for a couple minutes until the chocolate is hard.

Repeat with a second coat of chocolate and freeze again.

Now you are going to pop them out of the molds and fill the halves with hot cocoa mix and about 3 mini marshmallows.

Take a plate and heat it up in the microwave. Place the "lids" of the cocoa bombs face down on the plate so that the heat from the plate melts the edges slightly. {example is using milk chocolate, but just a photo for reference}

Place the lids on the top of your filled halves, smoothing the melted chocolate around the middle to seal the two together.

Place these on a parchment lined baking sheet and then put them in the fridge while you go onto the next step.

While these are in the fridge, melt more chocolate and oil for the drizzle topping. For the white chocolate cocoa bombs, I melted dark chocolate.

Spoon some into a ziplock and cut the tip off. Drizzle on the topping going back and forth, then place back in the fridge to harden.

That's it!

If you'd like to give these as gifts {keep reading on} you can print out my FREE printable images below and add them to cute bags or boxes.

I found cute bags at the Dollar Tree with hearts on them. They are the perfect size for 3 cocoa bombs.
Here are a few more options for baggies:

I printed mine on 2x2 squares of card stock stuck back to back with a glue stick.

Their are so many variations you can make on these!

Variations:

Use your imagination and make white chocolate peppermint ones using peppermint hot cocoa and sprinkling on crushed peppermints on the top!

Try making boozy ones and add a little Bailey's or Fireball to your melted chocolate chips.

You can get creative with the toppings and you can make different colored drizzle by adding a bit of food coloring to melted white chocolate chips.

Trust me, these are so easy to make and turn out so cute, that you will want to be making them all the time!

Tag me on Instagram {mysweetsavannah} if you make them, as I'd love to see!
