I have a super fun project for you today!
It's not only fun, but it's easy, and costs right around $4.00 to make!
Can you believe it?
You will need the following:
STRONG GLUE
PLASTIC CUP, I GOT MINE IN A 3 PACK AT THE DOLLAR TREE
PLASTIC BOWL, I GOT MINE AT THE DOLLAR TREE
PAINT, ANY LATEX PAINT IN THE COLOR OF YOUR CHOICE
BAKING SODA
PAINTBRUSH
WOODEN 1/2 CIRCLES, OR MAKE YOUR OWN CLAY ONES LIKE I DID! TUTORIAL HERE.
Step 1-
Invert your bowl and cup and attach the cup to the bottom of the bowl using strong glue. I placed something heavy into the cup and let it dry overnight.
Step 2- {optional}
Attach your 1/2 wood or air dots to the bowl, randomly spacing them. I used the same heavy duty glue and then used painters tape to hold them in place until they were secure. Then you can remove the tape. If you have drips of glue, no biggie, it just adds to the character.
Step 3-
Mix 1 cup latex paint with about a 1/4 cup baking soda and stir. Apply 2-3 random coats over the entire piece, letting dry between coats.
All of the coats can go on very messily, it gives it a more realistic stone look doing it this way.
Step 4- {optional}
While the paint is wet I like to sprinkle on a little baking soda. It will stick to some of the wet paint and you can brush off whatever doesn't stick later. It just adds another layer of dimension which I think is cool.
