how I decorate our deck for function and beauty

I am so excited to be sharing our outdoor deck space with you today.

In the fall we added a huge door set from Innotech which transformed the entire space.

Since last year we have done that, got a new metal roof, and a new fire table, both of which have added to the look of the space.

I can't wait to show you all for the first time how it came together!

Welcome to our home and our newly revamped deck and outdoor area space.

If you want to see how it has changed since last year, you can see that here.

Here is a breakdown of what we have used on our deck for those of you interested! Just click on the product to take you to the products page.

Our deck is a really quite peaceful place to nap, eat, entertain friends, and spend time with the family.
It's a great place to sit at the end of a long day on a warm spring night.

Because our deck is so large we have it grouped in different zones.

What you are seeing today is the seating area portion with our new fire table.

We also have a sunbathing area with lounge chairs, a dining table for eating outdoors, and a hot tub area.

We also have a outdoor covered kitchen area with a tv and fireplace. You can see that here.

Here is some tips on how I decorate our deck for function and beauty.

1- I like to keep with the same aesthetic as the inside of our home for a seamless transition from indoors to out.

If I know the weather will be nice for a while I will even bring our couch pillows outside.
I like to bring out blankets too for chilly evenings or for early morning coffee drinking.

2- I like to have places guests can set drinks. Besides our fire table, I brought out this tulip table that I used to have inside.  It's a great place to set a drink, and add in a  little greenery.

With the doors fully open we can really enjoy both spaces and it feels like one.

We have a great view of the lake from this area too.

3- We added in another sectional not only to fill the space, but for people to be able to spread out and sit back and relax. You can never have too much comfy furniture!

We have filled this furniture with friends and family time and time again.

4- I like to use interesting containers for plants. {Remember, all sources at the beginning of this post}
Think outside the box. This container isn't necessarily a planter but it works well as one.
Look around your house for things you can repurpose!

5- If you have pets that are on an invisible fence, you can place the pucks under places you don't want them to go.

We let ours up on the furniture outside but only if they are invited up.

Here is my attempt to get an overall shot.

6- Bring lighting outside whether it is cafe string lights or battery operated outdoor lights in lanterns.
The warm glow in the evenings is so pretty and makes things feel really cozy.

Thanks for coming along and looking at our deck space today!
We truly love it and feel very fortunate that we get to spend time out here.
