Not only are these no bake chocolate pinecones cute, they are easy to make and a fun project for friends and family to get involved in.
How realistic do they look??
Sprinkling them with powdered sugar makes them look like a snowy winter treat.
You will need Chocolate Toast Crunch Cereal, large pretzel rods {I bought mine here} and a mixture of:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup nutella
3 Tablespoons butter, softened
&
1 cup powdered sugar
Place a little blob of the peanut butter mixture on a plate and stick a pretzel rod in it. I cut mine to 6" lengths.
Mold the peanut butter mixture around the rod, making it wider at the bottom, like the shape of a tree.
Start placing cereal pieces around the base, and work your way up.
If any of your pieces curl a bit, I found it looks most realistic to have the curve facing up.
As you add each row, stagger them a bit to add depth and dimension.
After you are done, you can add half pieces to the top, adding a bit more of the peanut butter mixture if needed.
Fill in any gaps with more cereal.
Finally, dust with powdered sugar.
I found that refrigerating them for an hour or more will make them easier to transfer. Use a spatula to move them carefully to a cake stand or decorative plate.
