I hope you all are having a fabulous day so far.
Today I am joining a few other blogging friends to bring to you some Spring DIY projects using paper.
I am going to be showing you how to make gorgeous placemats with contact paper.
This might be one of the easiest projects out there. You can make these in no time at all, and they are super affordable.
Even better, you can customize them to your table setting or theme.
This project only requires 2 things-
1-placemats {I like to use the rigid kind, not the thin floppy ones}
2- contact paper or peel and stick wallpaper.
I found my placemats at the thrift store. I often see them there, sitting all lonely with their outdated designs. As do I, you probably pass them by without a thought.
But, next time you see them, scoop them up and bring them home for this fun project.
My local thrift store happens to be right next door to a dollar store, so I popped in to see what they had in the way of contact paper. There I found black and white floral drawer liner begging to go home with me.
I will say, I did peruse Amazon and find some great peel and stick wallpapers and contact papers.
So for future projects, I will probably look there for something a bit more specific.
Ok, let's get started!
Unroll your contact paper or wallpaper out on a long flat surface, upside down.
Place your placemat on top of the paper, lining up 2 edges, or as many as you can.
Use a pencil or ballpoint pen to trace around the placemat being careful not to move it.
Remove the placemat and carefully cut along your line.
Then starting at one end, peel back the backing and start laying it on your placemat, smoothing out with your hands as you go along.
If you have any spots that need trimming, use a razor blade to cut.
The best thing about using contact paper/drawer liner is that when they get dirty you can simply wipe them clean!
These DIY contact paper placemats are so simple to make, and will look so pretty on your table!
I hope this inspires you to try your own!
