how I set my simple summer table

I love setting pretty tables, whether it is for family or friends.

Here are a few steps to help you set the perfectly pretty table.

Start with the centerpiece. Choose a large low container and one type of flower.
I chose Tara Asters from the grocery store. I loved the color and the whimsy of them. I used 4 bunches and cut them down to fit in my rustic metal container.

Because the flowers were so bright, I opted for everything else to be very neutral to let them shine.

To keep things looking natural and earthy I opted for stoneware plates.

I topped each one with a marble appetizer plate and black cloth napkins, knotted for a relaxed feel.

A bottle of wine on the table is always a nice touch.

If you'd like to read about our gallery wall, you can do so here.

I was going with a modern farmhouse look, and if you are too, you will want to mix rustic and modern. Blend old and new for this fun look.

Vintage silverware, an old marble cutting board, and metal centerpiece all play well off of the bold napkins, matte black wine glasses, and shiny bottle opener.

Having appetizers handy for friends or family is a great way to start off your dinner.
Recipe coming next week!
