layers to a luxe holiday table

Hello friends!

I am excited to be a part of Bre Doucette's holiday get together blog posts!

Bre is the queen of creating a great tablescape, in fact, she wrote a book about it which you can find here.

Here are my 5 steps to adding luxe layers to your holiday table, with links to inexpensive items to get you this look. Click on the bold type words to take you to the product page.

Metallics

Metallics are a great way to add that sparkle to a holiday table. Think gold, silver, bronze, champagne, or copper. I like to mix gold and silver in my decor. Here on my table I used gold rimmed dishes, gold rimmed goblets, vintage silver-plate silverware, vintage silver cups for florals, a thrifted silver tray, and bowl.

Ribbon

Here I used ribbon on little white gift boxes that double as place card holders. {get my FREE printable gift tags here} Ribbon adds a luxe feel if it is a good quality like satin or velvet. Think about it's texture. You can add some with a little shimmer to it as well. I like a good fat ribbon, at least 1".

Roses

No matter the color, roses scream luxe and you don't need a ton to achieve this look. You can even use less expensive spray roses. In my centerpiece I combined white roses with eucalyptus, and added in cedar I clipped from trees in my yard, all in a clear glass vase.

Another idea would be to create this same arrangement in a vintage silver ice bucket, or champagne bowl. You can even buy them new, here and here.

A bold color scheme

Black and white provides rich contrast with the metallics. This is why I started by using a bold zebra hide as a tablecloth. If you don't want to use a faux hide, think about using material you might have on hand, even a sheet!

Candles

Add candles to your table in abundance and dim the lights at meal time. This will create a great ambiance for your holiday meal. Try using dripless candles so your tablecloth doesn't get damaged.

For the finishing touches you can add on good wine, nuts or fruits that double as appetizers and will add some color, and don't forget the napkins! For the luxe look I prefer cloth napkins over paper napkins any day.

I hope you have fun creating your holiday table, even if it is just for a few this year. We all deserve a little luxe in our lives, now more than ever!
