easy summer decorating home tour

Welcome to part one of our summer home tour!

If you are coming from Jo-Annas, A Happy Life In The Suburbs, welcome! I love her tips for decorating her kitchen for summer.

Today I hope to share with you some easy summer decorating tips, from our home to yours.

I recently did a post on how to style your shelves for summer which you can view here.

I give lots of tips on styling shelves without breaking the budget and without completely having to re-do everything.

If at any time you are wondering where I purchased something, you can always click on the "shop my blog" tab at the top of this page.

Obviously I like to decorate with neutrals, but you can apply my concepts to any color palette.

I find neutrals to be calming and relaxing and tend to add interest with textures and mixing materials rather than with color.

If I am ever craving color, I can easily bring that in with fresh flowers, or throw pillows, etc.

For summer, I swapped out pillows in our living room to lighter ones, and a lot are linen which has a carefree feel to it.

Right off of our living room is a huge deck. It's about 800 sf and with a giant wall of windows and doors, it really has a great indoor/outdoor feel.

Our dining room is the final stop and I have changed up a few things in here so I will be sure to link them for you!

One of the easiest things you can do when decorating for summer, or any season for that matter, is to cut branches from your yard.

They don't have to be anything fancy but they add life and a pop of color to your space.

I swapped out or mirror for this large moody painting. I just love the colors it gives to the space. It has a ton of depth and looks way more expensive than it is.

I also picked up this canister while I was out and the subtle color pairs well with the other neutrals in the room, especially the painting!
I also grabbed the pink one because if you know the Studio Mcgee items at Target go quick!

The vase is another favorite and it will be great year round.

If you'd like to see how to make your own DIY wall saying, click here for the instructions. It's really fun to change out seasonally.

A few extra glasses I picked up while out thrifting.

And that's a wrap for this summer home tour!
Be sure to check back often, as I will be sharing more in the coming weeks.

Gorgeous, Melaine! It looks right out of a high-end catalog! I love your deck - I can imagine how beautiful it is to sit out there by the lake. Thanks for being part of this series!
